Australian Good Man: Jesse Webb

I think I've been addicted to making friends with foreigners. I was like a frog in a shell. I don't know anything about cultural diversity. And this man made me realize that only by using 'Just talks' then we can be connected with other people across the country. He is Jesse Webb, my friend from Australia. I have tried to 'just talk' with several people in the Tandem app. Not all of them replay my message. In the app, actually I want to get a partner in English speaking. I really hope that I get a native English friend. I need to speak with a native English person because I believe that language is only about habit. I can activate every word and phrase only if I use it in speaking or writing. Listening is good for learning but that is not enough. If we only listen to someone speak English then we actually only use the passive ability. We only get the information but never try to produce it. This is my first post on my English journey. I have heard a very famous quote 'nothing late to start!'. I believe it. I am 36 years old when start to learn English seriously. Actually, I have known English since I was in junior high school. I remember when my English teacher taught me how to introduce myself.  "Hello, I want to introduce myself. My name is Farid Suryanto. You can call me Farid. I'm 13 years old. Thank you!". That is the first English sentence I used. It was hilarious! At the time I had difficulty pronouncing English words. The word 'I am' should be pronounced 'ai yam' in Bahasa. Even though the word 'ai yam' is sound like 'ayam' in Bahasa that it means 'chicken'.  It was hard for me to remember how I should pronounce English words. Today I realized that the most important to learn English is practicing it. Actually learning grammar did not help more without practicing to speak. I have tried to found friends
